Great Loa Ghede, god of the underworld, master of the
Dead
Unfetter the souls of the slaves
Give them back their macandals. Let them breathe
Din, dem come again
Sit on the shoulders of the pained
Whisper like saints, “Steady is the hand that
Aims for freedom.”
This land of thirst and blood is something more
It is promise, it is the hope for resurrection and
Miracles
Dem dead will rise again
Console the crying and the dispossessed
Give them water, hope, and love
Steady is the hand that aims for freedom
Toussaint, pray for the living
Pray for the dead and the soon to die
Rise; lead the souls of the cherished
Rise…
Lead the souls of the cherished
Now, nearing my own nadir I reflect on
All things never said and seldom done
I have come around to the emptiness
That eats my heart
I have to define it, know it, and name what
This feeling is
Because it is not longing, or lust, or want
It does not spring from an absence of love
It is not surety, or the shame it brings
Or hurt, or regret, honestly
And it is not care for what others think
I lost touch with remorse in the 7th grade
What I feel, I think, is probably grief
That there is no such thing as a happy ending
No such thing as second chances
No cavalry coming from just beyond the hills
3 LOVE KEYS FROM MOMS
by Lynda Spirit Baptiste
This past Mother’s Day gave me a chance to be so in touch with one simple truth… If you are breathing be thankful. If you have any Mother issues, it just does not matter, be grateful. Because one thing is for certain and two things are for sure; you would not be breathing if you did not first have a Mother. I take nothing away from Fathers. They are equally important, but if God decided and Your Mom labored to give you life, you owe YOU the very best life YOU can live. And I hope you are not second guessing that!
Advice Mothers Gave to the Men in Our Lives…
By Lynda Spirit Baptiste
LOVATIONSHIP GURU’S speak straight from their hearts this Mothers Day to their Mom’s and Caregiver’s with the words of love they do not put in Hallmark Cards.
To NATALIE,
MOM…I want to say to you this Mother’s Day!
Mom I am who I am today because of the way I always saw you had an open minded attitude toward all kinds of different people and different things. And I saw the way that you helped anybody in need without ever worrying about getting paid back or having it reciprocated back to you and because of that I am exactly like you.
To BRENDA,
MOM…I want to say to you this Mother’s Day!
I LOVE YOU Mom FOR SHOWING ME HOW TO BE A FATHER TO MY KIDS AND FOR INSTILLING RESPONSIBILITY IN ME. Now I am responsible to my family. As you know, I am in my kid’s lives 110%. Mom I thank you for always taking care of me even though my Father was not there. You raised me to be a strong, loving Black man BECAUSE OF THE MOTHER YOU ARE.
To MARGARET,
MOM…I want to say to you this Mother’s Day!
I love you Mom, for giving me strength and although my father was not there, I still have the ability to be the Best Man that I can be for my children. And, in spite of any circumstances that I may have gone through, it was a learning tool for what not to do when it comes to my children. So…I thank you Mom and I love you for that.byLynda Spirit Baptiste

Is it important to you for your woman to love herself?
YES! Well…it’s the thing about me…that I know. In order for you to love me, I have to love myself First. So…it’s the same for her…in order for me to love her, she has to know how to love herself First!
On a scale of 1-10, how important is it? (10 being the highest)
10! It’s Very Important
