Well you can’t exactly tell by the weather we’ve had so far in April, but we’re almost there! It’s time for the temperatures to start rising in DC and time to break out the fresh outfits suited for spring. The big trend in style this year is healthy looks through healthy living and that doesn’t mean just fitness gear. It means natural hair, beautiful skin (for men as well as women!), eating right, and being well-rested. The perfect spring has a perfect breeze to it and that’s also the style to shoot for this year; breezy and comfortable. If that’s your look, don’t be surprised to find your picture at OnStage in our #StyleSight section.

Once again, I conclude that our Lovationship Gurus are giving us authentic answers that touch our hearts and open our minds. I believe their highly perceptive answers will lead us to greater wisdom in creating our own Lovationship success. They provide answers to questions that we might want to want to ask our own partners or partners to be. I myself remember and have come to practice some very sage advice someone once gave me. They told me, it is the questions you ask that matter the most. What they meant was that you have to ask the right questions to get the right answers. I find this week’s answers a whole lot more interesting then what I had originally thought to be interesting questions.
I always make sure my Lovationship Gurus feel comfortable. I let them know they can speak freely and from their heart because they are protected by anonymity. I feel positively certain this is the kind of connection we have. After all, these questions are too tough to have canned responses; would you agree?
I notice our Lovationship Gurus always take a minute and think before they respond. More times than not they repeat my question first, and you can genuinely tell they have gone to the deep recesses of their heart before they respond. So, I want to take a moment here to “Thank All of Our Lovationship Gurus” over the past weeks for their thought provoking and profound contributions. Thank you for helping us move towards creating a greater understanding on the nature of how to improve, enhance and enlighten our minds at the heart level to have the best Lovationship we deserve for ourselves and our partners. Please check our Thoughtful Thursday archives to comment and acknowledge all of our Lovationship Guru’s contributions. Now, let’s jump right into this week’s juicy article, shall we?

Author R. Kayeen Thomas is an author, poet, journalist, hip-hop artist, and social justice advocate out of Washington, D.C. In February Thomas received an NAACP Image Award Nomination for Outstanding Debut Author for his novel Antebellum, published by Strebor/Simon & Schuster. On April 16, Thomas’ third novel The Seven Days will be released and available everywhere books are sold, including online. This book is a prequel to Antebellum; both novels force readers to evaluate the important lessons lost and gained from African American past.
Save the Date for The Seven Days-Antebellum Book Release Party from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on April 30 at Busboys and Poets (14th& V NW), hosted by the Office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton.
Thomas creates compelling and thought-provoking novels important to the African Diaspora by juxtaposing today’s hip-hop culture with daunting realities of slavery and the mindsets associated with both. Learn more in his own words:
Fashion Friday’s readers, I was browsing through the videos on the OnStage website (which I encourage my readers to do as well) and came across an artist named Daryn Alexus. When I looked a little closer, I saw that Daryn was a young woman that I attended Alice Deal Junior High School with (Go Vikings!). Throughout the video, not only did I hear her beautiful voice, but noticed her sense of style as well. It was inevitable that I would do a Fashion Fridays spotlight on her.
The one thing I will say about this young lady is that no matter what happens in her career, she will stay true to herself. Fashion Fridays, lets get to know Miss Daryn Alexus :
