“A girl should be two things : classy and fabulous” – CoCo Chanel
Far too often these days, there is a negative depiction of who women are. Media tends to shed light on women who aren’t setting the best example of what a woman should dress like and how a woman should conduct herself. With March being the month we celebrate Women’s History, I decided this week's #FashionFridays should highlight my favorite most classy fashionable woman of all time.
Fashion Friday readers, meet Miss Audrey Hepburn.
Audrey Hepburn
Best known for her role as Holly Golightly in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” , the British born actress was also one of the biggest fashion icons in history. There isn’t one picture of this woman that doesn’t justify why she is known as a fashion trendsetter. She has covered some of the most prestigious fashion magazines (i.e. Vogue) and not one published picture of her is one where she lacks clothing.
When people think of Audrey Hepburn, the first word that usually comes to mind is class. She was once quoted as saying “I can’t play a hooker”. For me, this statement speaks volumes about who she was a person.
I believe that her decision to only portray positive roles is what led to her being one of the few people in history to win an Academy Award, Emmy Award, Grammy Award and Tony Award. Not only did she win awards for her talent, but she was also awarded honors like the Presidential Medal of Freedom due to her work as a humanitarian.
As women, we have started to become a lot more shallow and tend to take more than we give back. We see women in the media compromising their integrity and exposing themselves just to wear high price designers. When do we see them giving back to the community without the television cameras rolling? Audrey Hepburn was beautiful on the outside as well as the inside. She is a great example of someone to look up to who was considered an “it” girl in Hollywood.

“The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mode but the true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives the passion that she shows. The beauty of a woman grows with the passing years” – Audrey Hepburn
Real women know how to maintain their sexy, while keeping it classy. I think classy has a chance of becoming the new sexy. There are some women out here who are willing to set that example. And you don't have to be famous to be classy either. Audrey Hepburn was a role model, but you can be too.
Hope I’ve helped some of my ladies out today! Until next week!
