How awesome is it that you are starting the first day of the month reading this special #FashionFridays segment !
It always brings a smile to my face when I see people close to me doing well and that’s what’s going to make this segment so special to me.
While doing my weekly magazine shopping I came across the December/January issue of XXL magazine. The first thing I notice is Chris Brown and when I look closer, he is wearing the “Holy Crew” tee from the Spring 2013 collection of my friends Quinn Aston and Ugo Mozie of Aston Mozie clothing line! I had the opportunity to meet and become great friends with both Quinn Aston and Ugo Mozie around the beginning of 2010. I attended their first Fashion Week fashion show and from there it was history.
Today, I am highlighting Ugo Mozie, Fashion Stylist extraordinaire.
Over the past couple of years, this young man has worked extremely hard to become one of the most popular stylists known in the fashion industry. This is a very busy man, so I am so grateful that he took time out of his busy schedule to interview with me! Readers, you are in for a treat. Below is an amazing interview as well as a few behind the scenes photos of Mr. Mozie and a small portion of his past and current clients. Some of the clients he has worked with include, Chris Brown, Angela Simmons, Diggy Simmons, Teyana Taylor, Laz Alonso , Dawn Richards and many more. Lets get to it!
When did you realize you wanted to be a stylist?
After assisting my friend who was a stylist for a couple of his shoots, I got my first styling gig for a magazine. From that moment on, I knew that not only was styling the career for me, I was also good at it.
Who was your first celebrity client and what were the thoughts going through your head as you were styling him/her?
Kelis. It was the most surreal experience. All I could think was "You came this far, show the world what u got."
Who are some of your current clients?
Chris Brown, Laz Alonso, Dawn Richards, Coco & Breezy , Kelis , Teyana Taylor , Angela Simmons , Letoya Luckett and people can check out UgoMozie.com or twitter.com/ugomozie for updates on my current jobs and clients.

What is the hardest part about your job?
The politics and business. The actual styling and working on set is the easiest part. In order to be a good stylist, you have to be as business savvy as well as fashion savvy.
You are currently a part of the design team of two clothing lines, Aston Mozie and The Kill. Aston Mozie being your own line with Quinn Aston and The Kill with Karrueche Tran. How are you managing your responsibilities as a designer as well as still being able to be a stylist?
For me, designing and styling go hand in hand. Balancing 2 of the companies is definitely not an easy task but not impossible either. Besides knowledge and passion, I am blessed to have a strong team of people surrounding me that keep me driven and motivated.
In your opinion, what is the biggest misconception about being a stylist?
The biggest misconception about being a stylist is being a stylist only takes having great style. It takes more than personal style and fashion knowledge to be a stylist. One has to do a lot of research, understand human psychology and emotions, and be able to stay on top of business and branding affairs.
What is one thing my readers can know about you that you've never shared in an interview?
I am obsessed with ratchet music and Middle Eastern Culture. Lol
