Ooh lala.. Its #FashionFridays! Hope everyone has had a good [Short] week!

Class is in Session.

Many citizens of modest income, not excluding myself, often overextend themselves to live above their means in order to keep up with the latest shoes, bags, and clothing items worn by their favorite celebrities. However, some designer labels are still too expensive to purchase. Consumers that cannot afford the high-end prices resort to purchasing what I like to call FAUX products, also known as counterfeit merchandise. Due to the high volume of counterfeit products being sold, the fashion industry police are doing their best to put a stop to this fashion crime.

I was introduced to high-end luxury retail at the tender age of four months. At Neiman Marcus Department Store, I was blessed and had the privilege of having a personal shopper so there was no such thing as FAUX products coming into my house. My mom and aunt taught me early that if you work hard, you can reward yourself with any prize you desire. If you could not afford it, you either shouldn’t have it or you should work extra hard so that you can purchase the $790.00 Louis Vuitton Speedy 30 bag that you’ve had your eye on for months. First and foremost it is an insult to the designers as well as the people who spend their hard earned money on real products to have to see people styling counterfeit products.

This issue of purchasing counterfeit products is slowly coming to an end though. The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations has pursued a seizure of counterfeit websites through an operation called “Project Cyber Monday.” According to Kristi Ellis of the Women’s Wear Daily Website, “Federal authorities seized 89 websites selling a wide range of counterfeit designer products, including Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Christian Louboutin”. This is great for designers because whenever someone looks to purchase the FAUX products there will be a notice that informs the consumer that the site sells counterfeit products.

(One of the best days of my life! Meeting Mr. Christian Louboutin himself !)

Christian Louboutin is a very well known shoe designer who has been in the fight for a majority of his career to seize all websites that sold counterfeit Christian Louboutin products. If you’re in a situation where you can’t really afford it, why not wait, and work hard to buy a real pair? And make sure when you purchase them you get the bottom sealed to preserve the signature!

Honestly, the best mindset to have about purchasing FAUX products is, you wouldn’t want to work hard to create your dream then have someone imitate it and depreciate how hard you worked.

My people don’t get caught FAUX out here!

L O V E,

MISS.CNH
