It looks as if spring is finally on its way. Before it gets here, I think its time for my readers to prepare for some spring-cleaning.  Usually in fashion, people refer to spring-cleaning as an act of getting rid of old clothing. Here at Fashion Fridays we want it to pertain to all aspects of your life and not just your closet.

Hello Spring

FashionFridaysBanner
Fashion Friday’s readers, it is officially March 1st! Usually during the winter, I hibernate and come back out around spring time, but yours truly has been out and about attending several events to give you all a first look at what’s going on in the Metropolitan Area. This week I had the honor of attending The Women’s Elevation Magazine launch as well as an exclusive live performance by R&B recording artist RaVaughn at the DTLR Radio launch party. The majority of the interviews conducted in February were with several influential men in the fashion/entertainment industry. Today we highlight two women who are on the journey of leaving their footprints in the hearts of the entertainment industry. Both of these women stand for elevating women thus we call this weeks Fashion Fridays the Girl Power edition.
First up, we have Miss DeLisha Sylvester, CEO/Founder of the Women’s Elevation Magazine.

It has been a while since it was just me and my readers. Lately, Fashion Fridays has been booming with great interviews featuring influential people in the entertainment / fashion industry. When people think of the fashion industry, I'm sure glitz and glamour come to mind but its time to talk about the dark side of fashion. Over the past couple of months there have been several reports of bullying going on in the schools as well as via internet.

As I look at what people are wearing, one major trend I’ve noticed that everyone loves right now is leather. There are various ways designers are utilizing leather in their designs.

Kara M. Foster who is also On-Stage DC’s #StyleSight photographer introduced me to a line called Feed The Beast. Seeing as though I loved the line and the designer was from the Metropolitan Area, I knew I had to get an interview for #FashionFridays.

Ladies and Gentlemen , welcome to the stage, Nikolas (Nik) Taylor. At 22 years old he is the creator of FeedTheBeast , LLC. Nik was born and raised in Montgomery County , Maryland. Coming from a pretty diverse background, he takes advantage of his family culture that inspires the drawing influence behind his brand. Since 2009, Nik has been a professional hair stylist and it opened up a vast network for him especially in the DMV area. Lastly, he recently had his first child, a little girl named Kailee who has become his main inspiration.

In case my readers didn’t know, the 55th annual Grammy’s are coming up this Sunday, February 10, 2013. As the date approaches, many of the talent as well as producers are preparing their Sunday’s best for the red carpet.
I have a special treat for my readers this week. I call it #FashionFridays , Grammy Edition.

On October 11, 2011 hit song “Lotus Flower Bomb” was released by the Metropolitan Area’s ( Which can also be referred to as the “DMV” ) own, Wale featuring R&B artist Miguel. This song hit the air and landed right into the hearts of a lot of ladies. When there is a song released that touches ladies, it’s almost a guaranteed hit. “Lotus Flower Bomb” is now nominated in the Best Rap Song category for this years show.
